In its renewed effort to revive quality education in the state, the Kano State Government is set to reopen the Shehu Minjibir Boarding Primary School, which was closed by the previous administration.

As part of the reopening process, about 200 male primary school pupils from 44 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) across the state are to be admitted into the school.

The Acting Chairman of the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Wada Ibrahim Daho, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation and coordination ahead of the school’s reopening.

He stated this while monitoring the conduct of the entrance examination for the prospective pupils of the school.

Represented by the Director of Quality Assurance, Malam Muazu Magaji, the Chairman explained that the initiative aims to provide quality boarding education for talented pupils selected from across the 44 local governments in the state.

He said the decision to reopen the school reflects the strong commitment of the present administration under Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf to improving teaching and learning, particularly at the basic education level.

Malam Muazu further disclosed that the state government has approved ₦37 million for the renovation and upgrading of the school’s facilities to ensure a conducive learning environment.

He added that preparations are already at an advanced stage for the official reopening of the school, marking another milestone in the government’s effort to strengthen the education sector in Kano State.

The school, originally established by former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was later closed by the past administration. However, as part of his vision to promote education and foster unity among Kano children from an early age, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed its reopening.

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has also commended this initiative and supported the school with special instructional boards and materials to enhance teaching and learning.
