Collaboration efforts Drive successful Dessimination os Kano ASC Report

By JB Danlami The dissemination of the 2024/2025 Annual School Census (ASC) Report was successfully held in Kano State, organized under the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity in Nigeria (HOPE-EDU) programme in collaboration with Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
The event, themed “Strengthening Evidence-Based Education Planning in Kano,” brought together key stakeholders in the education sector to review findings and strengthen data-driven decision-making.
Representing the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Malam Yusuf Kabir, the Permanent Member I, Hon. Wada Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of the Annual School Census in advancing education development. He noted that the census provides reliable data essential for effective planning, policy formulation, and equitable distribution of resources across schools.
He added that accurate school data enables the government to identify gaps in infrastructure, teacher deployment, and student enrollment, thereby guiding strategic interventions to improve learning outcomes.
In his goodwill message, Hon. Wada Ibrahim expressed delight over the successful conduct of the dissemination meeting, describing it as a collective effort toward securing a brighter future for children in Kano State. He described the ASC report as a roadmap for educational development and urged Education Secretaries to study the report carefully and utilize its findings to drive meaningful progress in the sector.
Delivering his remarks, the UNICEF Representative, Muttaka M. Muktar, explained that the Annual School Census is a collaborative effort between UNICEF and the Kano State Ministry of Education. He commended Kano State for emerging as one of the leading states in successfully completing the 2024/2025 ASC exercise, describing the achievement as a testament to the state’s commitment to improving education through accurate data collection.
In her welcome address, the Board Secretary, Hajiya Amina Umar, appreciated UNICEF for its continuous technical and financial support toward the successful implementation of the Annual School Census.
The dissemination meeting, held at the SBMC Hall, SUBEB Headquarters, was attended by SUBEB management, Zonal Directors, and Education Secretaries, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to utilizing data for improved educational service delivery.

The event further underscored the importance of collaboration, as it was jointly organized by SUBEB Kano and HOPE-EDU, reinforcing shared responsibility in strengthening the education system in Kano State.
