Kiru Bilingual School: Steering Committee Conducts Inspection Visit Ahead of Take-Off

The Steering Committee overseeing the commissioning and take-off of the Kiru Bilingual School has conducted an on-the-spot inspection visit to the school premises as part of efforts to ensure full readiness ahead of the commencement of academic activities.

The visit enabled members of the Committee to assess the level of preparedness of the school, including the condition of classrooms, administrative offices, staff rooms, sanitation facilities, instructional materials, furniture, assessment of Hostels and the overall safety of the school environment.

During the inspection, the Committee interacted with stakeholders to obtain updates on progress made so far and to identify outstanding tasks requiring attention prior to the official opening of the school.

The Committee emphasized the need to complete all necessary preparations in line with approved standards for bilingual education.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairperson of the Steering Committee and Board Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hajiya Amina Umar, reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to the successful take-off of the Kiru Bilingual School.

She noted that SUBEB would ensure the deployment of qualified teachers, the provision of adequate teaching and learning materials, and continuous technical support to guarantee effective service delivery.

The Chairperson commended the collaboration among key stakeholders and the host community, stressing that such partnership is critical to the success of the bilingual education programme.

She called on parents, traditional leaders, and community members to continue supporting the school for the benefit of children in the area.

In a similar vein, the District Head of Kiru, Alhaji Ibrahim Hamza Bayero,the Dan Maje of Kano, pledged to work closely with committee’s members and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth administration of the school.

He further assured of sustained community sensitization and monitoring efforts to promote enrolment, regular attendance, and the long-term sustainability of the initiative.

The Kiru Bilingual School is part of the government’s broader strategy to expand access to quality basic education, enhance learning outcomes through bilingual instruction, and reduce the number of out-of-school children.
