The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of basic education through capacity building for teachers and education personnel on the effective implementation of the revised basic education curriculum.
The Executive Chairman of SUBEB Kano, Malam Yusuf Kabir, stated this during the opening of a two-day Cascade Training on the Revised Basic Education Curriculum, organised by the Board in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja.
Malam Yusuf Kabir, who was represented at the event by the Director of Social Mobilisation, Hajiya Hauwa Tanimu, emphasised the importance of equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills required to implement the revised curriculum effectively in basic education schools across Kano State.
He explained that the cascade approach would enable participants to transfer the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to other teachers, thereby expanding its reach and promoting uniform implementation of the revised curriculum across the state.
The Executive Chairman noted that the training was designed to strengthen teachers’ understanding of the updated curriculum, improve instructional methods, promote effective assessment practices, and ultimately enhance pupils’ learning outcomes.
He further stressed that the success of the revised curriculum would depend on teachers’ commitment, effective classroom application, continuous professional development, and the support of school administrators, education officers, parents, and other stakeholders.
Malam Yusuf Kabir urged participants to take full advantage of the training and ensure that the knowledge gained translates into improved lesson planning, classroom instruction, and assessment of pupils.
He assured stakeholders of SUBEB’s commitment to supporting the implementation process through continued professional support, monitoring, and evaluation to identify challenges and promote effective teaching and learning in basic education schools.
The training forms part of ongoing efforts by SUBEB Kano and UBEC to strengthen the capacity of education personnel and ensure the effective delivery of quality basic education in Kano State.
