KNSUBEB Trains Teachers on Guidance and Counseling Skills

The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has organized a two-day workshop aimed at equipping teachers with modern strategies on Guidance and counseling.
Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the SUBEB Training Center, Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, the Executive Chairman, Malam Yusuf Kabir emphasized the critical importance of leadership and counseling in guiding students toward making informed life decisions that benefit both themselves and society at large.
Represented by the Director Academic Services , Hajiya Magajiya Usman, the Executive Chairman noted that the field of Guidance and counseling fosters stronger relationships between teachers and students, while also helping address early-life challenges that could hinder students’ academic and personal development.
Malam Yusuf urged participants to take the training seriously, stressing that they were carefully selected based on merit.
He added that the workshop is expected to contribute significantly to the development of education in the state.
He also took the opportunity to appreciate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the support and attention given to the board, which he said has enabled the implementation of impactful educational programs at the Basic Education level.
In her remarks, Hajiya Magajiya Usman disclosed that 200 teachers and Schools Support Officers were selected from Model schools, Junior Secondary Schools, and Islamiyya schools across various educational zones for the training. She said the goal is to equip them with new methods in student Guidance and counseling to help tackle issues that affect students’ learning and general well-being.

Hajiya Magajiya also commended the SUBEB Chairman for his visionary leadership and commitment to improving the state’s education sector.
Dr. Yakubu Anas, Chief Consultant of Yusufa Education and Development Services and the lead facilitator of the workshop, expressed optimism that the training will bring about positive transformation in the area of student Guidance and counseling across the state.
