In a renewed effort to boost basic education and support vulnerable children, the HAZARAS Charity Foundation has donated school learning materials to 1000 pupils across selected schools in Kano and Jigawa States.
The initiative, which was carried out in partnership with Muslims Aid Australia (MAA), aims to encourage school attendance, reduce the number of out-of-school children, and complement government efforts towards improving the standard of basic education.
Speaking during the presentation of the materials, the Chairlady of HAZARAS Charity Foundation, Hajiya Lauratu Ado Diso, said the gesture was part of the organization’s commitment to promoting education, supporting orphans, and assisting children from less privileged
families.“Our mission is to help children stay in school by providing them with essential learning materials,” she said. “We believe that when a child is properly equipped for school, it motivates both the child and the parents to take education seriously.”

A total of 1000 pupils benefited from the donation — 700 from Kano State and 300 from Jigawa State.
In Kano, the Foundation selected schools from six Local Government Areas namely: Gwale, Wudil, Kumbotso, Gezawa, Danbatta, and Ungogo.
In Jigawa State, the benefiting LGAs include Birnin Kudu, Dutse, and Jahun.
Eighteen (18) schools participated in the exercise, with Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) receiving items for 40 pupils each and primary schools for 30 pupils each.
Each beneficiary pupil received a complete school kit containing: One school bag, One mathematics set, Twelve (12) 60-leaf exercise books, Ten (10) pens and two (2) pencils, One pack of coloured pencils, One water bottle, One lunch bowl, and One plastic basket
The package is designed to provide both learning tools and personal items that make schooling easier and more enjoyable for children
Hajiya Lauratu praised the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for its outstanding support and cooperation throughout the implementation process.
She explained that SUBEB played a major role in welcoming the Foundation’s delegation, linking it with Education Secretaries and Mobilization Officers in the selected LGAs, and assigning a Deputy Director to supervise the exercise to ensure transparency and success.
The Board also provided a vehicle to assist in the distribution of the materials and mobilized school heads and community leaders to participate in the exercise.
“We sincerely appreciate SUBEB for its partnership and encouragement. The success of this exercise would not have been possible without their guidance and logistical support,” she added
The Foundation urged teachers to ensure the donated materials are put to proper use by the pupils, while also calling on parents to remain committed to their children’s education.
“We appeal to teachers to monitor the use of these materials and continue motivating pupils to attend school regularly. Parents too should ensure their children care for these items and maintain interest in learning,” the Chairlady said.
Hajiya Lauratu explained that the project is a pilot phase of a broader educational support plan that the Foundation intends to expand in the near future.
“Insha Allah, this is only the beginning. We plan to extend our support to other areas such as teacher training, provision of teaching aids, classroom furniture, and school improvement projects,” she stated.
She reaffirmed that transparency and accountability remain the guiding principles of the Foundation’s operations, adding that all activities are carried out in line with the agreements and ethical standards shared with their international partners.
The HAZARAS Charity Foundation, she said, also carries out other humanitarian activities in sectors such as healthcare, feeding of the needy during Ramadan, empowerment of women and orphans, support for small-scale traders, and vocational skills training.
“Our Foundation remains committed to identifying the needs of communities and partnering with government and other stakeholders to address them,” she concluded.
HAZARAS Charity Foundation is a community-based organization operating in Nigeria with support from Muslims Aid Australia (MAA) — an international humanitarian agency active in more than 60 countries across Africa and beyond.
The organization focuses on improving the welfare of orphans, vulnerable children, and families through education, health, and empowerment program
