Kano State Governor Launches Tree Planting Campaign, Distributes Seedlings to Students

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched a tree planting campaign, distributing tree seedlings to primary and Junior secondary school students in the Umarawa area of Kumbotso Local Government.

The governor urged parents and teachers to encourage students to plant and nurture trees, promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized the importance of tree planting, stating that his administration has planned to plant three million trees across the state.

He encouraged community members to take advantage of this initiative and plant at least one tree in their surroundings, contributing to environmental protection.

Commissioner for Environment Alhaji Nasir Sule Garo highlighted the benefits of tree planting, including soil erosion control, food production, and provision of raw materials for industries.

He also noted that trees provide shade, beautify the environment, and support biodiversity.

Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II emphasized the significance of tree planting, citing Quranic and Hadith references that underscore the importance of environmental conservation.

He urged traditional leaders to sensitize their communities to the benefits of tree planting and nurturing.
