The Kano State Government has stated that the reopening of Malam Shehu Minjibir Boarding School is a strategic step aimed at providing quality education and sound moral upbringing for students across the state.
The State Commissioner for Education, Gwani Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, made this known while addressing newly admitted students of the school located in Minjibir Local Government Area.
He explained that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reopened the school to ensure that students from all the 44 Local Government Areas of the state have access to structured learning in a conducive and well-supervised environment.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of boarding schools in promoting unity and social integration, noting that bringing young students together from different parts of the state fosters mutual understanding, tolerance, discipline, and peaceful coexistence.

He added that the boarding school system enables students to concentrate fully on their studies without distractions, while receiving proper academic and moral guidance from teachers and caregivers, thereby improving overall academic performance and character development.
He further disclosed that the state government has allocated a substantial portion of the annual budget to the education sector and has begun implementing key developmental programmes to strengthen the system.
In his farewell remarks before the students departed for the school, the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Malam Yusuf Kabir, revealed that 179 students were admitted into the school from across the 44 Local Government Areas.

He noted that due process was strictly followed during the admission exercise, including entrance examinations and proper screening of qualified candidates.
Malam Yusuf Kabir also stated that the State Government provided school uniforms, mattress, and other essential materials to ensure the comfort and welfare of the students.
He expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), AMASCO Company, and IBZAR Printing Company for their support toward the successful reopening of the school.
He equally commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for approving the reopening of the school, providing feeding funds, recruiting qualified teachers, and strengthening security measures.

Some parents who accompanied their children also expressed gratitude to the Governor for revitalizing the school and prioritizing educational development
