The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reiterated its commitment to introducing reward mechanisms for teachers and education staff who demonstrate dedication and commitment to duty, while warning that acts of negligence and absenteeism will not be tolerated.
The Board Secretary, Hajiya Amina Umar, made this known during an official working visit to Albasu and Takai Local Government Areas.
During the visit, Hajiya Amina Umar expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment displayed by education officers in Takai Local Government, whom she met actively discharging their duties. She explained that the purpose of the visit was to inspect ongoing renovation and construction of new classrooms being executed by the State Government in the two local government areas.
She also announced incentives for some hardworking officers, including access to soft loan to motivate and encourage them to remain steadfast and committed to their responsibilities.
However, in an another development, the Board Secretary expressed deep displeasure over the complete absence of education officers at the Education Secretariat of Albasu Local Government.
She described the situation as gross misconduct, noting that despite government efforts to improve the welfare of teachers and other staff, some individuals have failed to reciprocate with commitment.
Hajiya Amina Umar pledged that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken to serve as a deterrent to others.
At the end of the visit, residents of Durbunde and Kachako communities appealed to the Board Secretary to convey their appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his continuous support to education development, particularly through school renovations and construction of new classrooms in their communities.
