The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has organized a capacity-building workshop for Local Government members of the School-Based Management Committees (SBMC) from all the 44 local government areas of the state.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training held at Dawanau Primary School in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, the Acting Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Wada Ibrahim Daho, described the workshop as a strategic step toward strengthening the operations and effectiveness of SBMC structures across the state.
Represented by the Director of Social Mobilization, Balarabe Danlami Jazuli, Hon. Daho explained that the training aims to further sensitize SBMC representatives on their critical roles in supporting and improving the management of public schools at the grassroots level.

He emphasized that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is deeply committed to enhancing community participation in education through the active involvement of SBMCs.
According to him, these committees serve as vital links between schools and their host communities, ensuring mutual understanding, accountability, and sustainability in the education sector. Why
Hon. Daho also noted that the new National Education Sector system provides that every school must have a functional SBMC before it can benefit from federal or state education interventions. He therefore urged participants to pay keen attention to the training sessions to ensure effective implementation at their various schools.
In his remarks, the Director of Social Mobilization, Balarabe Danlami Jazuli, disclosed that the workshop brought together ten SBMC representatives from each of the 44 local government areas, in addition to all Education Secretaries and Supporting Officers of Social Mobilization across the councils.
He added that the workshop was organized in six clusters—Tarauni, Rano, Nassarawa, Dawakin Tofa, and Gwarzo zones—to ensure wider participation and convenience.
Balarabe Jazuli expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman, Malam Yusif Kabir, for his commitment and determination, which ensured the successful conduct of the training exercise.
