Governor Abba Kabir Yusif announced that new classrooms constructed by his administration will be decorated with the inscription “Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida”, leaving a lasting legacy and marking his impact on the education sector.
The announcement was made during the flag-off and presentation of cheques to the Community Reorientation Committee (CRC) for the renovation of 440 classrooms across the state, held at the Coronation Hall, Government House.
The Governor stated that his administration, through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), plans to spend ₦2.9 billion on constructing classrooms, with each block of four classrooms costing ₦62 million.
“We have resolved to decorate all completed classroom projects with the inscription ‘Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida’ to symbolize our commitment to education development,” he said. “The previous administration spent millions of naira cleaning up Kwankwasiyya inscriptions on projects executed by former Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, rather than focusing on people-oriented projects.”
Governor Abba added that the new construction aligns with his administration’s commitment to implementing the state of emergency on education, as declared. He urged the people of the state to continue supporting government policies and programs to enable the government to succeed.
Executive Chairman Malam Yusif Kabir commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusif for prioritizing the Basic Education Sector, achieving significant transformations within one year in office, including overhauling 40 inspection vehicles, recruiting and training teachers, and other initiatives.
